They are free weekly sessions where notable educational innovation projects are presented as well as relevant topics from special events that participated in the International Conference on Educational Innovation of Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey CIIE 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

Socially oriented education: solving challenges through educational strategies<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A society that promotes Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) with a transdisciplinary vision will help to respond to contemporary problems. This is possible through an ethical, fair, equitable, and multicultural education focused on solving social challenges. Sustainable competencies and digital skills are necessary for this transition and must be assessed in students, with a view to ensuring their professional success. However, to consolidate this transition, studies and results are required that emphasize these trends. In this work, under the framework of prosocial education, the results of the efforts of a research group in Interdisciplinary and Socially Oriented, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (SOI-STEM) Education are described, to plan and give continuity to educational changes based on innovation and collaboration to solve social challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Proyecto \u201cSocial networks analysis to avoid dropout and bullying\u201d <\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The article proposes to incorporate into the school context a tool originally used in work environments: the analysis of energy networks. Simulated classroom data is used to identify students\u2019 social networks and associate network information with relevant variables in educational research such as school performance, intention to drop out, and bullying. The advantage of this type of analysis is that it allows a very agile visualization of students at risk. The results of the network analysis are quantifiable, as well as the impacts caused by interventions carried out with the purpose of improving relationships between students. The article offers some recommendations proposed by positive psychology to improve relationships within the classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n

Proyecto \u201cApps for the Wellbeing in Tecmilenio University\u201d<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of the study is to describe the results of satisfaction surveys about the use of two applications (apps) to promote well-being in students of the Tecmilenio University. The first app, Healty Minds Programme (HMP), was developed by a team of mindfulness specialists from the University of Madison-Wisconsin, including Dr. Richard Davidson, and aims to train four skills associated with subjective well-being: attention, connection with others, insight and purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second application, Habits.AI, is aimed at physical well-being and promotes healthy habits of eating, resting, physical activity and personal relationships. To explore the opinions of HMP users, a text analysis is performed. For Habits.<\/span><\/p>\n

AI, the response percentages are presented on a Likert scale. The results indicate that users of both apps expressed favorable opinions of their experience. Some noted that practicing meditation helps them fall asleep and become more aware of their actions. In addition, more than 70% of the respondents considered that Habits.AI contributed to improve their well-being.<\/span>

EmotionID: A support tool for emotion detection on students using artificial intelligence<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Emotions influence learning, and technology can play a crucial role in studying and monitoring them. We designed a system that uses artificial intelligence to detect hidden emotional problems in students through their facial expressions over time. This early detection allows intervention and alerts on possible academic risks, this approach differs from other existing systems that rely solely on grades as an indicator of risk. In addition, this system can be seamlessly integrated into current educational frameworks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Predictive factors of burnout perceived by professors of a private\u00a0 university in the north of Mexico<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There are multiple studies on burnout syndrome and university teachers, a severe psychosocial risk, and in M\u00e9xico it has the first place in job burnout. The main proposals for dealing with burnout focus on the teacher’s adaptation to the environment with self-help strategies; however, the study identifies the most significant predictors for avoiding burnout: engagement, organizational climate and the feeling of guilt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Researching Communities of Practice when transitioning In-service Educator Training to Blended Learning<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The New Jersey Department of Education sought to develop an online professional learning community for 150,000 educators in nearly 600 school districts. The authors present a post-project analysis of the project developed in support of Face-to-Face, Blended, and fully online learning situations. This project created an “Online Professional Learning Exchange” with blended online learning modules and was funded with over two million dollars. The greatest strength of the OPLE tool is to aid the state of NJ in shifting their training from expert delivery of knowledge in a face-to-face format towards the Community of Practice. The paper presents a Systematic Review of the Literature, an analysis of Professional Learning and Training Methods, and a description of the Methods to create Blended Learning Modules focused on video, written materials, polls, and discussions. Through this integrated approach, the OPLE allows users to master concepts that enhance their ability to provide more efficient and practical instruction to their students. Finally, the paper concludes with the results and implications in light of the current world developments and their impact on education.<\/span><\/p>\n

Education in patients with diabetes is a cornerstone in the proper treatment, so we conducted an investigation where through a smartphone application we provided lessons and measured the difference in the level of knowledge after its use with a significant difference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Evaluating COIL as a Pedagogical Approach to Facilitate the Development of Intercultural Competence<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Collaborative Online International Learning, or COIL, is an innovative approach to teaching that uses technology to bring faculty and students together–across borders of time, space, language, culture, and often discipline–to engage students in peer-to-peer intercultural dialogue and a shared learning experience. Drawing on recent data collected through surveys and classroom observation, this talk shares how the development of students\u2019 intercultural competence is supported in this international online learning environment, and how students experience COIL as a method of education. Findings and recommendations for future COIL development and practice are shared to support ongoing advancement of this pedagogic strategy. <\/span><\/p>\n
